The Jaime Foxx vampire movie break-down

"Day Shift" is a new vampire hunting movie starring Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco. The movie is about a blue collar working dad who wants to provide for his child's happiness. But, his mundane job at the pool in San Fernando Valley serves as a front for hunting and killing Vampires as part of an international Union of vampiric hunters.

The premise sounds exciting, but can J.J. Perry deliver on it?

The movie's opening scene features a bizarre action sequence in which Jamie Foxx shoots at an elderly lady who turns out be a vampire. The two of them then have a wild fight that turns out to be a great time. I felt that the movie had a lot of fun using this type of ragdoll physicality in its action sequences, making them pop in ways that other Netflix action movies and blockbusters don't.

Day Shift is the kind of movie that's so bad it's good. It's so obvious what they were trying to do, and yet they failed so miserably. It's a poor production with mediocre acting and a stilted dialogue. The plot is also void of any real substance. I still enjoyed it. Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for vampire movies, or maybe it's because I just enjoy watching bad movies. Day Shift was great. While it isn't a great movie, it's very entertaining. That's really all I want from a movie such as this.

Day Shift was a very mixed movie. On one hand, there is a lot of fun action scenes and some fun characters (the two brothers and Seth), but on the other hand the villain was horrible, a lot of mediocre characters, though I guess that helps the better characters shine even more. There seemed to be missing scenes that were cut. Bud's neighbor behaves like (blog) she's a friend, even though she only had three minutes of screen time before the final scene. Bud made prank phone calls while working at the gas station, which was probably the best scene in the movie. It was funny, and it was a great movie. But then the rest of the movie happened, and it wasn't nearly as good. Day Shift has a mixed record. There are some great parts and some terrible parts. This movie is great for those who want to have a good time and laugh.

The movie is worth the effort thanks to Snoop Dogg. Snoop Dogg is the best! He's the definition of cool.
